Firmin), Marc Meersman (M. André), Stephanie H. Tschöppe (Mme. Giry), William Lynn Dixon (Piangi), Sophie Kiddle (Meg)

Intense color bleeding that tends to red and yellow, but filming has very good closeups. Focuses more on the right part of the stage since there's a huge head blocking the left side, some blackouts in the beginning of the show. Also includes a making-of feature in the beginning. Minor flub during 'Notes II' where one of the managers switches to English for one line.

July 28, 2005 | VOB + smalls (0.98GB)

Zoltán Miller (Phantom), Andrea Mahó (Christine), Gábor Bot (Raoul)

Highlights, about an hour long, quite a bit of obstruction due to filming from the left balcony and the camera often goes out of focus, giving us a blurry picture, but there are also a lot of beautiful close-ups to make up for it.

HAMBURG

1990 | mkv (177MB)

Peter Hofmann (Phantom), Anna Maria Kaufmann (Christine), Hartwig Rudolz (Raoul)

Two files consisting of scattered highlights of a proshot video featuring the original Hamburg cast, including parts of Hannibal, 'Angel of Music', 'Little Lotte', 'The Mirror', 'Stranger Than You Dreamt It', Il Muto, and 'Final Lair'.

1997 (?) | VOB + smalls (1.74GB)

Dale Tracy (Phantom), Colby Thomas (Christine), Ray Gabbard (Raoul)

Extended highlights starting from 'Think of Me'. Lots of generation loss, video constantly switches from color to black-and-white, washout obscures virtually all facial expressions, and camera is also constantly shaking. Otherwise, a decent video.

March 31, 1999 | VOB + smalls (4.08GB)

Jerzy Jeszke (Phantom), Carla Nicholson (Christine), Björn Olsson (Raoul)

Intense colors and some generation loss. Filmer knows the show well and filming is pretty steady.

April 1, 1999 | VOB (4.17GB)

Jerzy Jeszke (Phantom), Lori Zeglarski (Christine), Björn Olsson (Raoul), Anders Sohlman (M. Firmin), Reinhard Schulze (M. André)

Intense colors and some generation loss, but overall good quality, though color bleeding is a bit more noticeable here and detail is slightly fuzzier.

August 22, 1999 | VOB + smalls (2.18GB)

David Hunerjaeger (u/s Phantom), Valentina Kozhanova (u/s Christine), Kyle Gonyea (Raoul), Laurie Ann McGowan (Carlotta), Linda Bruske (Mme. Giry), Marcello Roncietto (Piangi), Sabrina Harper (Meg), Stephan Drakulich, Eberhardt Neitzel

Ian Jon Bourg (Phantom), Lori Zeglarski (Christine), Kyle Gonyea (Raoul)

Act 2 only. Includes part of the March 31, 1999 video with Jerzy Jeszke, Carla Nicholson, and Bjorn Olsson. Christine was labeled as Colby Thomas, but it looks like Lori Zeglarski.

April 25, 2000 | VOB + smalls (3.34GB)

Ian Jon Bourg (Phantom), Alison Kelly (Christine), Kyle Gonyea (Raoul)

Shot from the left side of the stage; tons of good closeups, great color and detail, but a little dark. Excellent cast.

Well shot video, steady and follows the action nicely. The quality is a bit worse than the other video of Kozhanova.

June 30, 2001 | Matinee | VOB + smalls (2.49GB)

Michael Nicholson (u/s Phantom), Olivia Safe (u/s Christine), Christopher Morandi (u/s Raoul), Evelyn Werner (u/s Carlotta), Reinhard Schulze (u/s M. Firmin), Anders Sohlman (M. André), Linda Bruske (Mme. Giry), Charlie Serrano (Piangi), Kate Lawrence (Meg)

Source #2 of the final show in Hamburg. This video is sharper and has better color and quality overall, but filming is shakier. No coverups. Features numerous hilarious ad-libs and a beautiful 'Think of Me' and 'Music of the Night' combination at the end.

Video was originally pretty dark (and still is in parts), but the master edited it to be brighter. This does mean that certain parts have a lot of washout while others are very grainy. Nevertheless, decently shot video.

August 7, 2015 | VOB + smalls (7.39GB)

Rob Pitcher (u/s Phantom), Valerie Link (Christine), Nicky Wuchinger (Raoul), Rachel Anne Moore (Carlotta), Anton Rattinger (M. Firmin), Guido Gottenbos (M. André), Michaela Christl (Mme. Giry), Joan Ribalta (Piangi), Vanessa Spiteri (Meg)

JAPANESE TOURS

1988 | Tokyo | VOB + smalls (2.09GB)

Masachika Ichimura (Phantom), Ryoko Nomura (Christine), Yuichiro Yamaguchi (Raoul)

Proshot, excellent quality for something so old. Video does flicker and skip at times. Three flubs during the final scene - the boat stops in 'Down Once More' and the Phantom and Christine go walking on water, candles and set are not fully onstage when the leads come in, and the doll gets stuck on the Phantom's throne.

1990 | Tokyo | VOB + smalls (2.88GB)

Yuichiro Yamaguchi (Phantom), Sakoto Yoshioka (Christine), Yuji Osa/Kanji Ishimaru (Raoul)

Contains choppy highlights of one performance seemingly focused on Christine with Yuji Osa as Raoul, and full act one from another performance with Kanji Ishimaru as Raoul. The original DVD media this was copied from was damaged so the third VOB file contains some glitches.

1992 | Tokyo | VOB + smalls (7.85GB)

Jun Sawaki (Phantom), Kyoko Suzuki (Christine), Kanji Ishimaru (Raoul)

Proshot video, but a lot of generation loss makes for a very blurred video; faces are hard to distinguish. Has a counter in the top corner.

1992 | Tokyo (?) | VOB + smalls (4.12GB)

Yuichiro Yamaguchi/Eiji Akutagawa (Phantom), Kyoko Suzuki (Christine), Masayuki Sano (Raoul)

Two videos, one complete and another short highlights (the title song, 'Music of the Night', and the 'Final Lair' only). First video filmed from near the front; has extremely shaky filming for the first act, but gets better after that, including some insanely good closeups and nice detail and color. Second video filmed from further back but still with the same awesome closeups. Same cast for both videos save for Eiji Akutagawa as the Phantom in the second video.

1992 (?) | Tokyo (?) | VOB + smalls (3.89GB)

Yuichiro Yamaguchi (Phantom), Kyoko Suzuki (Christine), Masayuki Sano (Raoul)

Phantom-oriented highlights from two different shows. The first is shot from the rear mezz, the second is Phantom-oriented highlights of the 1992 video. Unsure of date and location; has also been listed as 1994.

January 18, 1992 | Tokyo | VOB + smalls (3.35GB)

Yuichiro Yamaguchi (Phantom), Takako Nakazawa (Christine), Masayuki Sano (Raoul)

Shaky filming, midshots only. Includes clips from the 1990 video with Sakoto Yoshiok. There is a damaged video file, which makes the second half of the Final Lair glitch.

April 6, 1994 | Sapporo | VOB + smalls (3.31GB)

Eiji Akutagawa (Phantom), Hisako Hanaoka (Christine), Kanji Ishimaru (Raoul)

Final show of the production in Sapporo. Small and fuzzy quality video, but filming is decent with good colors.

April 13, 1996 | Tokyo | mp4 (1.09GB)

Toshihide Mura (Phantom), Kyoko Suzuki (Christine), Daisuke Yanase (Raoul)

Monitor video. A LOT of generation loss; impossible to actually see the detail in anyone's face or costume.

July 1, 2007 | Osaka | VOB + smalls (1.99GB)

Masayuki Sano (Phantom), Tamami Sai (Christine), Yuosuke Kitazawa (Raoul)

June 30, 2008 | Osaka | mkv/VOB + smalls (12.26GB/4.28GB)

Osamu Takai (Phantom), Shiho Ito (Christine), Yusuke Kitazawa (Raoul)

Filmed very close to the stage, so sometimes, the heads are cut off from the view.

MADRID

2002 | VOB + smalls (4.31GB)

Luis Armando (Phantom), Felicidad Farag (Christine), Armando Pita (Raoul)

Single-camera proshot; principal cast. Quality is somewhat worse than the other Madrid videos: lots of color bleeding and fuzziness, tending towards reds and yellows.

2002 | VOB (2.99GB)

Juan Carlos Barona (alt Phantom), Julia Möller (alt Christine), Zenón Recalde (alt Raoul)

Single-camera proshot; alternate cast. Excellent quality, though a lot of mechanical noise from the camera as it moves.

Juan Carlos Barona (alt Phantom), Julia Möller (alt Christine), Zenón Recalde (alt Raoul)

Three-camera proshot; alternate cast. Audio gets out of synch in the final scenes.

MEXICO CITY

1999/2000 | VOB + smalls (4.15GB)

Saulo Vasconcelos (Phantom), Claudia Cota/Lolita Cortés? (Christine), José Joel (Raoul)

Highlights from two performances. The first has Claudia Cota and goes from the overture to 'Don Juan Rehearsal', cutting out most of 'Think of Me'. The second was labeled with Irasema Terrazas as Christine, but it may actually be Lolita Cortes. It goes from the auction to just before the kiss in the 'Final Lair'. Somewhat shaky and pixelated, faces are a white blur in wideshots but distinguishable in close shots.

2000 | VOB + smalls (7.38GB)

Saulo Vasconcelos (Phantom), Irasema Terrazas (Christine), José Joel (Raoul), Tatiana Marouchtchak (Carlotta), Luis Rene Aguirre (M. Firmin), José Antonio López Tercero (M. André), Javier Cortes (Piangi), Laura Morelos (Meg)

Quite strange highlights compilation from no less than 2 performances. Includes: part of Hannibal, from ‘Think of Me’ to ‘Music of the Night’, ‘Point of no Return’, and ‘Final Lair’. Phantom is Dmitry Ermak until “turn your face away”, being switched with Ivan Ozhogin afterwards. Features soundboard in PONR, though filming is clearly amateur. Csampai left the show in July so it's the first half of 2015.

2015 | mp4 (129.9MB)

Maria Ivleva's first as Christine. Highlights including: 'Music of the Night', 'Stranger Than You Dreamt It', 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again', 'Wandering Child', 'Point of No Return', and 'Final Lair'. Appears to have been filmed very close to the stage, so the lower half of the screen is frequently obstructed, but picture is very clear like most Russian videos. The filming angle pays off in ‘Wandering Child’, which looks gorgeous.

Probably a youtube rip, sometimes confused with the evening performance. A very grainy video. *I know this Phantom is usually listed as Ivan Ozhogin, but I’m pretty sure it’s actually Dmitry. He’s got the right voice, he’s too short to be Ivan, and he does that distinctive over-the-top hair slick.

2019 | mp4 (122.7MB)

Thiago Arancam (Phantom), Lina Mendes/Giulia Nadruz (Christine), Fred Silveira (Raoul)

A compilation of clips that were posted on YouTube, shared with me, etc. These are not the full show, but in total come to over an hour. It most likely also includes the clips from some of the highlight videos that I have above; I have had the time to look and compare all the times and dates. They come from different angles and dates. A few are shot really close to the stage so there are some nice closeups, others are shot further away. There is at least one of Fred as the Phantom. All are MP4. Because it in total is over 1 hour of footage, it will be traded as a regular video.

Papa Rose's master. Taper says: First, let me say this was THE performance of Phantom for me (and I attended quite a few, including the last performance of both Christines). I'd already seen the lead cast, but hadn't been won over by them. This performance, however... My mouth was literally agape at the end of Think of me. That's HOW good Giulia is! This video is actually a combination of 2 videos I filmed of this cast, shot a little over 1 month apart. 95% of this video is from 7/20/2019, the other 5% is from an August performance I attended. Quality is very similar to that of my July 2019 video (with Lina Mendes). The show is in Portuguese. A head can sometimes obstruct the stage left, but it's worked around quite well. Overall it's an excellent video of a great cast at the top of their game!

Original mp4 file also available.

Papa Rose 2015’s master. Excellent unobstructed video of some understudies and the new Carlotta. Can be a little shaky when too zoomed in due to venue size, but in general it's great quality.

Ben Cramer? (alt Phantom), Joke de Kruijf (Christine), Peter de Smet (Raoul)

Cue tape for the Dutch production; black-and-white, some generation loss. Not really a tape to watch the show, as the sound of the performers is very low. You can hear all the cues given during a show. Sometimes labeled as having Henk Poort as the Phantom.

July 28, 1996 | VOB + smalls (3.76GB)

Ben Cramer (alt Phantom), Maaike Widdershoven (alt Christine), Hans Peter Janssens (alt Raoul)

Very interesting video filmed from the side of the stage. Filming is choppy and disjointed, stopping and picking up again every few minutes, which gives a great look at the backstage workings but makes it hard to judge performances. Also includes a making-of documentary at the end.

Peter Jöback (Phantom), Emmi Christensson (Christine), Anton Zetterholm (Raoul)

This video was originally shot in portrait, but it was cropped to 4:3 and matted for blu-ray. Looks like it was shot from the front row, and the cast gets very near depending on the blocking. There are times when the characters are out of shot but overall a nice shot video.

Special 25th anniversary concert of the Vienna production. Interesting concert version, some blurriness and quite a few bars and heads in the way, but gives a good look at what it was like. Includes a lot of TV spots for the concert.
